“If twilight had a voice, that voice would be Wendy Rule” - New Witch Magazine, USA

¬†Australia’s Visionary Songstress Wendy Rule returns to Melbourne from her hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico to celebrate the launch of her new double-album “Persephone”. The culmination of over twelve years work, this exciting new project is a beautifully evocative retelling of the Ancient Greek myth of the Goddess Persephone’s descent into the Underworld, and the ensuing grief of her mother Demeter, the Goddess of the Grain.

Although drawing on Wendy’s musical and Magical journey over the past 2 decades, Persephone is unlike anything that she has done before. It’s a focused ‘song cycle’ – almost like an opera – designed to guide the listener through this ancient tale of the cycles of Nature.

Wendy and friends will be recreating the album live in its entirety. Singing in the roles of the Goddesses Persephone, Demeter and Hecate (with Hecate’s parts chanted in Greek!), Wendy will be joined on stage by her band (Elissa Goodrich on Vibraphone, Marimba and Percussion, Rachel Samuel on Cello, Timothy Van Diest on synth and guitar), and accompanied by a ‘Greek Chorus’ of three singers who feature on the album - Melbourne locals Melody Moon and Talie Helene, and Greek songstress Callie Galati, who is flying in all the way from Athens to celebrate the launch.

Renowned for her extraordinary and otherworldly voice, Wendy’s live performances blur the line between music, myth and ritual. This very special event is a night not to be missed.

Prior to the main act, dinner and show guests will be serenaded by the dreamy sounds of Sangara (Rachel Samuel, Melody Moon and guests).

The Ballroom is located on the first floor of the venue. We have a disabled access lift to the Ballroom and a ramp for access up 3 stairs to the main floor. If you have any access needs, contact the venue beforehand to arrange assistance if required.
