Xavier Rudd never ceases to amaze. One of the most important Australian artists of all time, with each record he has created something new and unique, yet unmistakably Xavier Rudd. His ninth studio album, Storm Boy, is a stunning addition to his legacy – instantly earning its place among his finest work. To the delight of his fans, Xavier has announced Australian, North American and European tours for 2018, catapulted by Storm Boy's glorious first single, Walk Away.

I've seen people holding on to nothing,” rings the opening line of Walk Away. Familiarly human, it is a sentiment that we all know. Each of us has been the hoarder of something broken. We have all faced that which we should let go of. “Walk away from all that you know, walk away and hold your own,” sings Xavier as the song climbs to each soaring chorus.

Powerful and uplifting, Walk Away is the combustible poignancy of truth, ignited by music. Produced by Chris Bond (Ben Howard, Tom Speight) and mixed by Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, Bowie, U2) it is one of Xavier's most powerful songs to date – turning the page on a new chapter in his already epic saga. Its seamless weave of philosophy and music is the perfect note on which to unveil Storm Boy – bidding each of us to sing and dance in celebration. It is a song that can simultaneously mirror the certitude of our life, or give us respite from it.

Such is the power of Xavier Rudd's incomparable songwriting. Through it, he brings something truly special to the world. His music is utterly heartfelt and beautiful, and he is a prophetic voice in strange times – calming and comfortingly wise. His music is a gift. Timeless and empowering.

Last year, following his wildly successful Live In The Netherlands double-album, Xavier played his largest European tour to date, performing a whopping 28 shows over 34 days to more than 30,000 people. In 2018, he will surpass this with his biggest tour itinerary yet.

Firstly, to celebrate the release of Walk Away, Xavier will fulfil a promise to his Australian fans with an exclusive tour that will find him performing in intimate venues with a limited capacity. Highly-demanded for years, this will be the first time in a decade people in Australia will be able to see Xavier in such a wonderfully personal setting. Delivering material new and old, the tour is a vital, not-to-be-missed affair.

Following the single tour, Xavier will salute the release of Storm Boy with a massive intercontinental world tour – performing 58 shows across North America and Europe in the largest venues of his career. Visiting 18 countries (with even more to be announced) this massive itinerary is a good indicator of how Xavier feels about the new record. He wants nothing more than to get out and play it for his global family.

“Stoked for you to hear my new single Walk Away coming February 23,” Xavier explains. “I am proud of my new music and am excited to bring it to the people. Blessed again to be playing shows this year in so many countries around this magical planet.”

This is going to be a year that fans will never forget.
