Carlos Celdran is a Filipino-born and -bred queer performance artist, history hackademic, activist, and convict for the crime of offending Catholic feelings. For the first time in inner Melbourne and for three nights only, Celdran will perform his acclaimed off-Broadway one-man hysteric-historic “Livin' La Vida Imelda,” a personal account of life in mid-1970s Manila under Martial Law and the Marcos dictatorship. He’ll slip us into the disco shoes of notoriously flamboyant former First Lady Imelda Marcos and walk us through the glorious heights and grotesque lows of her life, ambitions, heartbreaks, and flirtations with authoritarian rule.

“Gleefully gossipy. Genuine theatre.” - New York Times

“If our history lessons were presented as animatedly as this, no student would ever fall asleep in class.” -Spot.Ph
